Starting over....
Okay, I know it has been forever since I have written, but I am "starting over" this year and am going to update MUCH more often than I have been. I have really enjoyed other websites that are often updated--especially those that update everyday!!--so i thought I would try to update often too.
I am going to back log a bit, but will eventually catch up!!
Here is a picture of our house in Charleston--we are so thankful for what the Lord has provided us with!!

First Birthday!!

Not sure about people singing to me.....

this cake seems okay though...
We can not believe that our little Reid is one year old!! No more babies around here--kind of sad, but we LOVE the person that Reid is becoming!! He has such a fun personality--he laughs and plays games, and is starting to talk up a storm! Here are some pictures from his first birthday--we can't believe how much he has changed (and how quickly it has happened!)

First Day of School!!!

I can not believe that my little one is already in school (okay, okay, I know it's only pre-school, but still.....)
Here he is on the first day (way back in August--sorry!)--not a hint of sadness about leaving Mom....a little bit wouldn't have hurt anyone....
But seriously, he is loving school, and even made the adjustment to school in Charleston great! We are very thankful!

Matching Boys!

Everett loves to match his baby brother and everytime we get dressed a request is made for matching clothes. We hardly have anything matching, so when I tell him yes a party is thrown and we have to take a picture to document it. Here is one of the many pictures we have of the few matching outfits the boys have!

Reid's Room

This is a picture of Reid sitting in his bed with his frog. He's actually placed next to his frog because he wasn't sitting up yet...
I thought I would show you a little of what his nursery looks like--the "theme" ( i don't really like that word!) is Frogs. I was inspired by a pillow that I saw called "Froggy Brothers" by Kelly Rightsell. The bumper is yellow, green and blue, (custom made thanks to Nan and Baby Bundles) and the walls are a spring green. Kind of a sweet "baby room" (Everett's was vehicles--not so baby.)
I can't believe that he is almost four months old! Time flies by even faster with the second one, but we are loving it!

"I'm a Big Brother Now!!

Everett is such a wonderful Big Brother! His transition to being a big brother has been such a blessing from the Lord! When he came to see Mom and Reid in the hospital he ran up to Reid in his bassinet and said "My baby Reid is here!" And he has called him "my baby Reid" ever since. He loves Reid more than I have ever seen a child care about a baby. He is always worried about Reid being hungry, needing a "patsy" (pacifier), or being "too tired". Sometimes it is love to a fault though--we are constantly reminding him that he is too little to pick Reid up and carry him around, that he can't lay down on top of Reid, and that Reid doesn't eat food yet (as he tried to sweetly share his goldfish).
I can't wait to see how their relationship changes and grows over the years!
Reid has Arrived!!

We are happy to announce that Matthew Reid Laughlin joined us on October 17th, 2005!!
His stats:
born at 12:50 pm
weight: 7 lbs. 3 oz.
length: 21 1/2 in.
Labor and delivery were quick and easy--praise the Lord!! We are so glad that he is finally here!
As most of you know, Reid spent 5 days in the NICU (neonatal ICU) after he was born. They thought that he might have a coagulation blood disorder. After many tests, tears, and prayers, we found out that he doesn't have any blood disorder at all--the lab at the hospital made an error in the original blood test! Thank you all so much for your prayers and support--we are so thankful for each of you!
Sorry that this update has taken so long to get posted-hopefully I will be able to keep up with the site better from now on!
Here are some pictures from when Reid was born and his stay in the NICU. Hope you enjoy!

Spidy Man

We thought for Everett's introduction to the website, we would use a picture of him in his favorite pajamas. He, however, does not see them as pajamas, but rather part of his transformation into "Spidyman". When he dons this "outfit" he runs around the house screaming "I spidyman, spidyman runs, here comes spidyman"--something only an almost two year old looks cute doing. The real dilemma here is what we are going to do when he outgrows these pajamas--and the time is quickly approaching. We have enough trouble when they have to go in the wash! Perhaps we will have to invest in some new super hero pajamas--any ideas are welcome!
And it's a ....
Well, after coming to the conclusion that the Lord was trying to teach me patience and we just were not going to be able to find out the sex of the baby, we had a surprise ultrasound last Thursday. I really was doing okay with not knowing, and was kind of beginning to understand why people might choose not to know. The anticipation is kind of fun. But when the ultrasound technician asked me if I wanted to know if the baby was a boy or a girl, my true feelings on the subject came out, as I said in a voice as loud as you can use in a doctor's office "YES!!!". And clear as bell on the screen was our little boy's bottom!
We are so excited for Everett to have a little brother! I know that they will be so close growing up and such good friends! The other day Everett asked me if the baby could crawl out now because he wanted to play. (Don't I wish he would crawl out!) After I explained to him that the baby would be too little to play when he was born, he said "That's okay. I just rock him". Hopefully he will continue this affection towards him once the baby is taking up some of Mom's time!
